Privacy
Can You Send collects as little as possible: no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies and no analytics services.
What's collected
- Climbers Served counter. Each page view (and each area loaded in the app) adds one to a single running total. Nothing about you is stored with it: no cookie, IP address or device identifier.
- Condition reports. If you send one, the area, the condition you chose and the time are stored and may be shown on the area page for 48 hours. A note, if you add one, is emailed to the developer and not shown publicly. Don't include personal information.
- Posts. A post's name (optional) and text are stored and, once approved, shown on the area page. They're checked by an AI safety model that runs on Cloudflare (no other company sees them) and may be emailed to the developer for review.
- Email alerts. If you sign up, your email address and chosen area and alerts are stored and used only to send those alerts (sent through Resend, an email delivery service). Every alert has an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing removes your address. It's never sold or shared.
- Email. If you email the developer, your message and address are used only to reply.
Services your browser talks to
- Cloudflare hosts the site and app service and, like any web host, processes requests (including your IP address) to deliver them and protect against abuse.
- OpenStreetMap map tiles and the Leaflet map library (from unpkg.com) load directly in your browser on pages with maps, so those services see your IP address.
- Links you follow (Mountain Project, Facebook, land managers, gyms) take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
The app
The app loads the same public data from this service and remembers your chosen area and settings on your device only.
