Red Rock Climber Stewards, 2026–27
Welcome to Red Rock, Amanda and Cassie!
What Climber Stewards do
Climber Stewards are climbers working at the crags for Access Fund, with the Southern Nevada Climbers Coalition and the BLM. They're out at the busy spots on weekends, sharing local ethics and Leave No Trace, helping climbers keep their impact low, answering questions, and looking after the trails and the rock. That includes the big Red Rock rule: wet sandstone breaks, so wait after rain.
Meet the stewards
- Amanda Miller: Started climbing at Seneca Rocks, West Virginia, then went on to climb at crags all over the country. Desert sandstone keeps pulling Amanda back, and Amanda is excited to get to know the Red Rock community.
- Cassie Petersons: Moved from Wisconsin to Las Vegas to climb outside. Cassie volunteers with Friends of Red Rock Canyon as an Assistant Naturalist and serves on the Southern Nevada Climbers Coalition board as Events Coordinator, and brings a fresh Midwest outlook to protecting the desert.

A grand thanks from a salty crimper
Amanda and Cassie: a huge, grand thank you from all of us crumbly crimpers out here on the walls. Every climber you talk out of pulling on us when wet saves a member of my own family. Have a stellar season out there, and may your skin hold out longer than the dry spells. 🤘
